Error 1330:A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt

While installing SQL Server 2014 I ran into following error.

On first full install all components except management tools installed despite this error. So I tried second time and choosing adding new component option. I only selected Management tools as new components that needed to be added to the installation. Installation failed with same error again. After some digging around I found that this error is not specific to SQL 2014 installation. This seems to be an error that has occurred in other Microsoft product installations as well.

The error message indicates the cause that the specific file is corrupt on instillation media. I created new DVD from ISO file. I still got the same error. Now instead of burning ISO image to DVD, I used an ISO extractor (Magic ISO) to extract content of ISO file on my hard disk. This time the installation worked like a charm. So If you run into error during installation that indicates corrupted files, try making copy of installation media on your hard disk.
